UPDATE (Sept. 26, 2026): A Delaware County jury on Thursday, Sept. 24, 2026, convicted Marson Weh of first-degree murder and possessing an instrument of crime in the killing of Michael Garr, CBS Philadelphia, NBC10 and the Delaware County Daily Times reported. The Delco Times reported that jurors deliberated about 30 minutes and that sentencing is scheduled for Nov. 5 before Common Pleas Court Judge G. Michael Green. First-degree murder carries a mandatory sentence of life in prison without parole in Pennsylvania. Our original report on the Sept. 23 trial testimony follows.
MEDIA, Pa. — A Clifton Heights man is on trial in Delaware County in the April 2023 stabbing death of Upper Darby High School student Michael Garr, 15, and jurors on Wednesday heard testimony about blood evidence and surveillance video, according to NBC10 Philadelphia and the Delaware County Daily Times.
Marson Weh, 26, of the 100 block of Willowbrook Road in Clifton Heights, is charged with murder and related offenses in Garr’s killing on the 200 block of Bridge Street in Upper Darby on April 21, 2023, the Delco Times reported. Prosecutors have described the attack as random; Delaware County District Attorney Tanner Rouse, who is personally prosecuting the case, has called the teenager’s death “random” and “senseless,” NBC10 reported. The Philadelphia Inquirer reported that defense attorney Ian McCurdy told jurors the allegations are “horrific” but “at this time, they are only allegations.”
Lead Detective Robert Marvil testified Wednesday that when officers took Weh into custody, Weh was wearing long johns with blood on them, and that laboratory testing later determined the blood belonged to Garr, NBC10 reported. The Inquirer previously reported that prosecutors said a dried blood stain on thermal underwear Weh was wearing tested positive for the teen’s DNA.
During the morning session, Rouse showed jurors video evidence that prosecutors say shows Weh following Garr for several blocks before the stabbing off-camera in a Drexel Hill residential neighborhood, NBC10 reported. The Delco Times, covering the same compilation, reported that detectives recovered pole-camera and neighborhood video from the night of April 21 and that Marvil identified Weh in still frames shown to the jury.
Family members remained in the courtroom as Marvil read a passage from a notebook investigators said was found in a backpack Weh was wearing the day police located him, NBC10 reported: “The first time I ever killed, I stuck a knife in a throat.” Prosecutors say Garr was stabbed multiple times, NBC10 reported. The Delco Times said jurors earlier heard testimony from a forensic pathologist about Garr’s 11 wounds.
The Delco Times reported that as the jury was being seated Wednesday, a microphone at the defense table picked up Weh quietly muttering what sounded like an apology and a statement that he was “the killer of Michael Garr” and “in fact, guilty,” though the paper said the remarks were too quiet to be heard in court. Common Pleas Court Judge G. Michael Green ordered the microphones at Weh’s table turned off minutes later, the Delco Times reported; it was unclear whether the judge had heard what Weh said. The same account said Weh had also muttered other contradictory remarks, including that he was “in fact, not guilty.”
Weh was arrested in May 2023 on an Ohio carjacking and assault case and has already been convicted and sentenced to 9½ years in that matter, according to the Delco Times. He was charged with Garr’s murder in early 2024 after case delays, that outlet reported. The case went to the jury the following day, and Weh was convicted on Sept. 24 (see update above).
At the time of the testimony described in this report, Weh was presumed innocent. A jury convicted him on Sept. 24, 2026.
