The Upper Pottsgrove police corporal charged with voluntary manslaughter in the shooting death of 22-year-old Glenwood Earl Pysher IV has voluntarily resigned, 6abc reported.
Corporal Sean Farrell, 58, is charged in the Aug. 23 shooting. Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin Steele has said Farrell shot Pysher after the college student banged on the door of the wrong house late that night.
Steele has said body-worn camera video shows Pysher with his hands up. Immediately after the shooting, Steele said, Farrell’s backup arrived and Farrell can allegedly be heard saying the man charged him, was screaming and yelling, and would not get on the ground. Steele said the video does not show Pysher charging, yelling, or screaming.
Farrell turned himself in to Montgomery County detectives. Bail was set at 10% of $75,000, and he was ordered to turn over all of his weapons to Pennsylvania State Police before being released. His next court hearing is set for Sept. 10.
He is presumed innocent unless proven guilty. Criminal charges are allegations.
