CHESTER TOWNSHIP — Pennsylvania State Police are offering a $5,000 reward for information that solves the 2019 killing of Naython Brown, a 33-year-old Philadelphia man who was shot in the head while he waited for help with a flat tire on Interstate 95.
State police announced the reward Monday, Oct. 19, in a release marking seven years since the shooting. No arrest has been announced in the case.
What State Police Say Happened
Troopers from the PSP Media station were called at 9:28 p.m. on Oct. 18, 2019, to I-95 southbound at Exit 4 in Chester Township, Delaware County, for a report of a person found dead in the grassy median that separates the highway from the exit to the Commodore Barry Bridge, according to the state police release.
Troopers found Brown dead in the median with a gunshot wound to the head, police said.
Investigators determined Brown had been driving a white Chevrolet Monte Carlo south on I-95 from Philadelphia toward Chester City when the car was disabled by a deflated rear tire. Police say he was shot and killed while waiting for assistance with the tire.
State police have not released a motive, a description of a shooter or any suspect information.
The Reward
The Delaware County Daily Times reported in April that state police had announced a $5,000 reward in the case, and PSP renewed the appeal Monday. According to state police, anyone who calls PSP Tips could be eligible for a cash reward for information that solves a crime or cold case, and the reward money is not paid by taxpayers, NBC10 reported.
