St.Joseph’s University Student Shot In Carjacking In Philadelphia

A St. Joseph’s University student was shot last night in an armed robbery carjacking on Upland Way around 1:30am. Police say two men wearing masks exited a Dodge minivan, armed with guns, and approached the student. This is when the two gunmen tried to forcefully take the victims keys and car.

The student tried to defend themselves and resist the attack but the gunmen pistol whipped him in the head and then fired at east two shots. The student was shot in the knee and the suspects fled the scene with his keys, but left the victims vehicle behind. They fled the scene in the same black mini van.

The student, who has yet to be identified, was transported to a local hospital and is listed in stable condition. This is just another incident where Philadelphia college students have been victimized by violent crime. In November of 2021, Temple University student Samuel Collington was shot and killed in an armed carjacking attempted by a violent repeat juvenile offender just steps from his off campus housing.
