As we conclude another deadly weekend in Philadelphia, city officials are still spinning their wheels to deal with the overwhelming public safety crisis. According to City Controller‘s official count, there has been over 1,000 shooting victims in 2022. 808 nonfatal and 198 fatal shooting victims as of Jun 9, 2022.
With the most recent mass shooting on South Street in Philadelphia’s Queen Village neighborhood, community members demanded immediate action from all city officials to address the community violence.
Additionally, total violent crime has spiked 6% throughout the city. The city is experiencing a massive 56% increase in robbery involving a firearm.
With no action plan in place, the city prepares for a record-breaking summer of violence.
