A 15-year-old who was shot and killed in Philadelphia has now been identified as Bobby Yocum of the Summerdale section of the city. The murder occurred around 3:49 pm on Saturday on the 800 block of Bridge Street. Philadelphia Police 2nd district officers responded to the area and found 15-year-old Bobby Yocum suffering from a gunshot wound to his chest. Philadelphia Fire Medics arrived and transported the child to Einstein Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 4:15PM.
Police say a 14-year-old girl was also shot on the scene but was transported to the hospital by a private vehicle. The girl was shot once in her right eye but is thankfully listed in stable condition. Police have yet to release any details on motive or leads in the day following the homicide.
A GoFundMe fundraiser has been started by Bobby’s grandmother Cathy Trelotora to aid in covering funeral arrangements. Bobby’s grandmother described him as “a bright and beautiful boy who has been taken from us too soon”. She goes on to say that the shooting was “a senseless killing over words”. Funeral arrangements for Bobby have not been finalized at the time of this publication.
